Box Full of Wasps Theater Collective: We have finally come up with a working title for our show, thanks to Melissa Sussman! The piece is now called Harmless Stories. I think it will be a really special show when all is said and done. There is a killer fundraiser party in the works, so keep your ears tuned for that.

O-Cast: The show is currently on hiatus! I would like to personally thank everyone who voted for us during the open Streamy nomination period which ended today. It meant so much to see so much support from our viewers. We can’t wait to shoot the remainder of the season and tell some more of our story! I also wanted to post O-Cast Episode 5: The Thirteenth Wheel for everyone’s viewing pleasure. Be well and stay warm!

While Bryan was away in Michigan at a family event, I attended the Big Screen Little Screen Meet-up for November and presented O-Cast. We screened Episode 2: Speed Dating and took questions for a crowd of viewers and fellow web series producers. It was useful to get their reactions and to spend time speaking with everyone at the event. We also saw a lot of other interesting work from our peers. Outside of the dramatic and comedic series we expected, we saw everything from online cooking shows to rountable sex forums. The more I dip my toes into this industry, the more vast it turns out to be! There’s more scope than I could have ever imagined.

Bryan and I also realized that we had a lot of people wanting more O-Cast than we were giving them than simply an episode every two weeks. With that in mind, we created a new release schedule including more interactive and behind the scenes events for the show.

God Chat LIVE is our new series that features a cast member on the Mondays when we aren’t releasing an episode. We gather in our forum chat room and everyone is free to ask any questions about working on the show and about the actors’ other projects. The second half of the chat is spent answering questions as the god they play on the series. We had our first God Chat LIVE on Monday featuring Peter Coleman as Hades and we all had a great time with everyone who turned out for the event. I can’t wait for our next one!

Today is especially exciting because we’re releasing our first edition of The God Blog. Every other Wednesday, one of the gods will write an article to give some insight into their experiences since falling to earth and taking up residence in New York City. Things have been in full swing since we premiered the first six episodes of O-Cast in NYC on October 22nd and then released the first two episodes online on the following Monday! For those that don’t know what O-Cast is:

Now, only four days later, we’ve amassed over 3100 views on the first two episodes. It’s so exciting to finally have our show out in the world where it can be enjoyed! I’ve grown accustomed to doing shows in NYC where people have to travel if they want to see my project, but it’s been so incredible to be able to share our work with people world wide at the click of a button. It’s a whole new ballgame. We’ve just been so lucky and so honored to be as embraced by our peers and our new friends on the web. O-Cast is such a labor of love for the cast and crew and I want to thank everyone out there that is helping to put us on the map.

This weekend I am performing at The Comic Strip on the Upper East Side of NYC! This performance is the culmination of an eight week stand-up comedy class I was enrolled in by WomanAroundTown.com. Each Monday I attend a class taught by D.F. Sweedler with several other amateur comedians and we workshop our material and continue to develop 5 minutes of material. Then, I chronicle my experiences for Woman Around Town in weekly articles. This Saturday, October 31st, my classmates and I are all getting up in front of a live audience to perform our sets! O-Cast© is blasting ahead at full throttle. The pilot trilogy (Episodes 1, 2, and 3) have been completed and the cast assembled to read through it last Thursday. I simply couldn’t stop beaming. We are so blessed to have so many phenomenal performers on this project and they all make me laugh, which assailed my biggest fear of the script not being funny. Let’s just say I don’t think we have to worry about that. It was such a treat to watch them bring Bryan’s and my work to life before our very eyes. We are also humbled by a fabulous group of designers, including another Purple Group 2004-2005 favorite, Ellie Famutimi who will be doing our costume design. I knew she was the woman for the job as soon as we started writing. She’s no stranger to bringing archetypes to life and and her work is always stunning. I’m so excited to see how she realizes these characters. Mary Catherine Moore, our set designer/dresser, led the group through a discussion of what would be on their “dilapidated Olympian thrones” which left us all intrigued and in stitches.

To top everything off, Rachel Mann, our Director of Development, walked us through the plans for “The Olympian Orgy” at Sin Sin Leopard Lounge. All proceeds from the event will benefit our production and are considered tax deductible donations. The event will be fabulous and will not only showcase our promotional photos of the cast in costume, but will also premiere some video of the characters as well as our opening animation sequence. We’ll be hosting artists who will be painting and drawing live during the event and raffling off the fruits of their labors after midnight. We also have several other raffle donations in the works including mounted photo-poetry pieces by Leah Johnston and some tickets to various theatrical events around the city. The owner of Sin Sin is ecstatic to host our party and secured sponsors who created our very own “Shots of Immortality” which will be passed out for free at the event as long as supplies last. There will also be other half priced drink specials. We’ll also be having our very own all-$1-bake-sale featuring a cake by The Neon Squirrel Cake that promises to be a hit! It is really incredible to think that this whole thing started about a month and a half ago. Bryan and I were restless and sitting in his room in Bushwick wishing we had a way to express ourselves. Now we are heading up an army of incredibly talented artists who all deserve a platform to showcase their talents. I’m so proud and so humbled by all of it and the best part is that there is so much more left to come. My brain feels like a million sparks are going of at once, and it’s a great feeling. I’m learning so much about the production side of things which is very new for me. I think we’re all learning a lot from the project and it promises to be a very fulfilling project.
